Bengt "Bim" Ingelstam, sousaphone

One of the real veterans of the Stockholm tradjazz society in the end of the 50s and early 60s. He used to be very much in demand both on soprano saxophone and sousaphone and played in a lot of very popular tradbands like Purple Rose Orchestra, New Orleans Reverends, Excelsior Jazz Band  and others.

All of a sudden he disappeared from the jazz scene in Stockholm and nobody seemed to know where he had gone. Many years later he was traced to a small town about 60 miles west of Sundsvall, called Ånge. There he had been working as a schoolteacher for years, raising a big family and was also an author, playwright and  politically very active. He seemed to be very satisfied with his life apart from not having the possibility to play jazz.

That fitted perfectly because Barfota Jazzmen was at that time short of a sousaphone-player. Everything turned out greatly and he has been inestimable for the progress and development of this band.
